FLOATING.BSTRD: A Retrospective of 5 Years of Club Culture Poster Design

In September 2022, Sarah Kravitz hosted FAWW Gallery for a special print exhibition by Floating Bstrd.

“FLOATING.BSTRD: A Retrospective of 5 Years of Club Culture Poster Design.” This exhibition showcased the work of Serbian graphic artist Marko Vuleta-Djukanov, known by his alias Floating Bstrd. Renowned for his vibrant rave flyers and collaborations with musicians, Floating Bstrd’s designs are celebrated for their synesthetic quality, visually interpreting sound through scintillating colors and dynamic forms.

His work often references major art movements like Surrealism and Modernism, incorporating elements such as cut-outs reminiscent of Henri Matisse and geometric abstractions that echo Cubist principles. The exhibition highlighted how Floating Bstrd’s posters inhabit a unique space of retrograde futures, blending contemporary aesthetics with nostalgic familiarity.
